Spirit Battery · Last updated 17 October 2026
Spirit Battery records your prayer. That is unusually personal information, and this page says exactly what happens to it. Everything below describes what the app actually does, not what it intends to do.
The short version
- You can use the whole app without an account. Then nothing leaves your phone at all.
- Nothing is sold, shared, or given to anyone. Ever, for any price.
- There is no advertising, no tracking, and no analytics of any kind in this app.
- Nobody but you can read your prayers — not other users, not us in the normal running of the service.
- You can delete everything, permanently, whenever you want.
Who is responsible
Spirit Battery is operated by its developer, contactable at spiritbattery.app@gmail.com. Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 we are the Data Fiduciary; under the GDPR, the controller.
Using the app without an account
You do not have to sign in. If you never sign in, your prayers are stored only on your phone and are never sent anywhere. Uninstalling the app deletes them, and we have no copy and no way to identify you — we never knew who you were.
What we collect, if you sign in
Your prayer records
| When a prayer started and ended | Date and time |
|---|---|
| How long you prayed | In seconds |
| Which kind of prayer | Tongues, Intercession, Meditation, Declaration, Hearing the Word |
| Your time zone | So a prayer is recorded on the right day for you |
| Your goal that day | So each day is judged by the goal you had then |
| Whether you typed it in afterwards | So the record stays honest about what was timed |
Your account
| Your email address | From Google when you sign in. Used to identify your account and nothing else |
|---|---|
| An internal identifier | A random number that links your prayers to your account |
Your settings
Your daily goal and your reminder preferences.
What we never collect
No name. No age. No gender. No location. No contacts. No photos. No device identifiers. No advertising identifiers. No record of what you do inside the app.
The app requests one permission: notifications, so your prayer timer can tell you when you have reached your goal. Nothing else.
Religious belief
A record of prayer reveals religious belief. Under the GDPR that is special category data and under India's DPDP Act it is personal data deserving particular care. We treat it that way.
The legal basis is your explicit consent, given when you create an account. You can withdraw it at any time by deleting your account, and you can use the app without an account instead.
Why we hold it
- To show you your own record — your charge, your history, your streak
- So your prayers survive a lost or changed phone
- To send the reminders you asked for
Nothing is used for any other purpose.
Who else sees it
Nobody. Your prayers are not sold, rented, shared, published, or given to anyone — not advertisers, not partners, not researchers.
Two companies hold data on our behalf, and only because the app cannot run otherwise:
| Supabase | Stores the database. Servers in Mumbai, India. Bound to process data only on our instructions |
|---|---|
| Only if you choose to sign in with Google, which tells us your email address. Google's own policy covers your Google account |
We will disclose data if the law genuinely requires it. If that ever happens and we are permitted to tell you, we will.
How it is protected
- Row-level security on every table: the database itself refuses to return another person's prayers, not merely the app
- Encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and at rest
- Nightly encrypted backups, kept 30 days and then deleted automatically
- A record cannot be altered once it has been uploaded, by you or by us
- No secret key ships inside the app
No system is perfect, and we will not pretend otherwise. If a breach ever affects you we will tell you, and the authorities, as the law requires.
How long it is kept
| While you have an account | Kept, so your history is there for you |
|---|---|
| Paused account | Kept. Pausing deletes nothing |
| After you ask for deletion | 30 days to change your mind, then permanently erased |
| Backups | Up to 30 further days, then gone from every copy |
| After deletion | An internal identifier and a date, so a restored backup can never bring your account back. No name, no email, no prayers |
Your rights
You can, at any time:
- See everything we hold — it is all shown in the app
- Correct your goal and settings in the app
- Delete everything: Profile → Taking a break? → Delete my account
- Withdraw consent by deleting your account, or by using the app signed out
- Complain to the Data Protection Board of India, or your local supervisory authority in the EEA or UK
If you have uninstalled the app, email spiritbattery.app@gmail.com from the address you signed in with. See deleting your account.
A copy of your data to take away is not yet available in the app. We are building it. Until then, email us and we will send it to you.
Age
Spirit Battery accounts are for people aged 18 and over. By creating an account you confirm you are 18 or older.
The app itself can be used by anyone without an account, with every prayer kept on their own phone and nothing sent to us.
We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has created an account, email us and we will delete it. We act on every such request.
Where your data is
On servers in Mumbai, India. If you are outside India, your data is transferred there and held under this policy and Indian law.
Changes to this policy
If this changes in a way that affects you, we will say so in the app before it takes effect. The date at the top always shows the current version.
